MSU Museum's 32nd annual MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash is set for Sunday, Oct. 1.

One of the longest-running 5Ks in the region, the fast, and flat 5K race is a fall-time favorite and a long-time benefit for the Michigan State University Museum educational programs. Meanwhile, a full line-up of activities makes for Earth shaking fun for the entire family.

Dashers compete in several different divisions and dinosaur trophies are awarded to overall male and female winners in both the running and walking categories in front of the MSU Museum, 409 W. Circle Drive.

The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports and the Pure Michigan Fitness Series endorse the MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash.

For kids: three special runs are designed for the younger crowd: the Museum Mile for youths 12 and under to run or walk a one-mile loop, and the Mini-Dash, an all-out 200-yard sprint for kids 6 and under. The Diaper Dash is designed for the youngest of dashers, along with their parents and companions. All participants receive an official Dinosaur Dash medal.

Registration prices vary depending on age and T-shirt styles selected; participants can save $5 registration fees and enter by Sept. 18. All registration fees include a quality short-sleeved T-shirt, a race-walking clinic, post-race food, beverages, and a donation that supports the MSU Museum's educational programs. (Shirt size and selection may be limited on race day.)

MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash entry forms are available at MSUFCU branches, Playmakers on Grand River Ave. in Okemos, and at the MSU Museum; or on-line here. The MSU Museum is located on West Circle Drive, next to Beaumont Tower on the Michigan State University campus.  For more details, contact the MSU Museum at (517) 432-4655 or email: dinodash@museum.msu.edu.

The MSU Museum is home to the area's only full-mounted dinosaur casts, Allosaurus and Stegosaurus, which give the MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash its distinctive name.
